Kat Thomas and Scott Easley: good friends, great extras.
Shooting at Gold’s Gym. Lots of choreographed hand movements from the extras. I miss this Beck t-shirt.

Oceanside Short Film Festival
Don’t know why I look so miserable. They haven’t shown my film yet.
Everybody got a framed certificate for just participating. This hasn’t happened since my 7th Grade Spelling Bee (which I also didn’t win). Oh, and a free bucket of stuff.
View from the packed house just before they played my film without sound for the first half (aaaaargh!). Bottom right is “hostess with the mostest” Sloan Robinson, who talked inbetween each film. For mine she said “Two days for three minutes, people. Think about it.” They did. I think.
For a first annual anything, the organizers did a good job filling these 160+ seats. A free bag of cheese popcorn on each one!
Our illustrious hosts, Rose and Michael Golden. They designed the poster.
All right! Trusty nowhereland P.A. and now-UCLA film school student Akiko Izumitami turns up to RE-PRA-ZENT the Stekki Daiyo! crew.
Two fellow filmmakers I met at the fest, Chris Raffaele and Trevor Hoff
Live from Marty’s Best Western Conference Center, it’s the first annual Oceanside Film Festival!
Akiko brought her schoolmate to the screening. She seemed to like my film.
Your slob of a director hovers around outside in the overcast heat.
The three judges, two instructors from a local college’s media department, and (middle) T’Keyah Crystal Keymah (from “Cosby”). Keymah wore a Nader button in the middle of Bush territory.
Akiko and friend (sorry, I can’t remember her name) talk to Audience Award winner, Augustine Ma, who won for “Yolk.” Ma and Akiko found that they both go to UCLA.
Goodies: Two bottles of tanning butter, a T-shirt, and a free bag of sand. Really. Chris thought it was pot. Wrong film fest, methinks!
