An ongoing mixtape of my music tastes
Information: I made my first mixtape when I was 1983. Later I made mixtapes for my mate in the UK between 1989 and 1994, called “Bizarre Sex Radio”. Then when I got my first CD burner in 1999 I started up again, making mix CDs every six months until about 2007, simply called Mills (because the first cover was a parody of the em:t label. Lastly, when lockdown happened in 2020, I sat down and completed an insane project: mixes for every year of my life up to the present moment, dividing each year into two parts. Absolute nuts. Even nuttier: creating edits of tracks that I deemed too long, too this, too that, so some of the edits here are exclusive. I also enjoyed the mixes from 1985 thru 1989, where I could make parodies of popular albums of the time. I’ve slacked a few times since 2020. But all the mixes exist up to then, and most of them are up on mixcloud. Some got taken down by having too many tracks by one artist or another. I will upload the missing mixes later.
NOTES:
During the CD years, the mixes were “released” on my label “Squid Lord”.
There are four Taiwan Trawl editions, collecting the best tracks of my shopping sprees in that country.
There are several “Mills at the ACE” collections, based upon my Shazams poolside at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs.
There are compilations of The Fall, Pizzicato Five, and of the Atlantic Rhythm and Blues box set.
There’s also a Christmas mix.
