Some months back, as we were sipping on a delicious and copper-cupped Moscow Mule at Roy, bartender Danny Scott sidled up to us, as you do at bars. “You guys like chocolate drinks?” he asked. Well, we like chocolate. And we like drinks. So yeah, I guess we do, we admitted.
“I’ve got this chocolate drink — check it out,” he said, before disappearing to make us a chocolate-filled cocktail. Maybe you’re reading this on Valentine’s Day. Maybe you’re reading it too late. But chocolate is always a winner. It’s an aphrodisiac! It’s an antioxidant! It’s good for you and your loved one!
Danny Boy’s Chocolate Martini Mmm (as it says on Roy’s menu) has been brewing in Mr. Scott’s mind before he came back to Santa Barbara from Las Vegas, and now you too can make it.
Just take Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Godiva Caramel Liqueur, Stoli Vanilla Vodka, Baileys Irish Cream and Kahlua, and mix them all into a large martini glass. All equal parts. This is not a fussy drink. This is an egalitarian concoction that will sate your cocoa needs this V-Day.
Yes, it’s sweet, but it’s not that sweet. We fell in love with it, at least for a day. We think you will, too, whether it’s at Roy or in the comfort of your sweet abode.
